"Bend Over, Little Homeowner," Thus Sayeth the County and City

I got my city and county property tax bills recently.

Um. Yeeaaaahh... I need a 'do-over.'

I'm always complaining about property taxes but this is the first time I've actually had to pay it and it's FAR worse than I thought.

Doesn't it strike anyone else as odd that this little element of state-driven slavery effectively eliminates your ability to establish yourself as a self-sustaining entity on your property?

You don't actually OWN your property this way. You're renting it from the state. What happens if you don't pay your property tax? They take your property; you are evicted.

Here I am paying for schools that I do not use. Paying for streets, 99.999% of which I do not use. Sewer systems - I don't use them. Fire departments - I don't use them.

I use exceedingly few government services. Most of the 'services' I use are actually hoops imposed by the state that I jump through for the sake of living an otherwise peaceful life. I jump through them at the moment anyway.

To make matters worse, my escrow account is shy about $1,300. You'd think P. Diddy stayed here with me for all that.

This is utterly ridiculous.

Mmmhmmm honey, I hear you. I just paid my property tax on my car to Virginia. What sucks is I just moved out of Virginia so it hurt even more giving them that money. I don't understand property tax. I mean I paid sales tax on it already. Why do I get taxed twice? And for a car? DC thankfully has no such car tax. Of course they rob you when you register your car on all the fees to do so, but as long as you paid sales tax on your car in another state when you move there, they don't charge you anything. Then again, DC has the highest income tax of any state/district in the country. And a relatively high sales tax on everything. And no representation (with voting power) in Congress to say it's all unfair.

When we got ours I shuttered. Not that we have to pay it,because its in Escrow plus paied for this year by the former owner. But the break up was REDICULOUS:
1042 dollars (we are out of city limits,so we pay low taxes).
900 SCHOOL taxes, stupid, because we don't use public schools.Nor does 99% here in this neighborhood. And the few kids that I know that go to the public school still have to bring money constantly for things. So where is the 900 a month going???Oh yeah....most likely to some school board officials private pool (again).
133 dollars County taxes, not much of a bug deal because we ACTALLY DO use the parks and stuff, but then this.....NINE whole dollars in STATE taxes!WTF???
Ok,I won't complain but what the hell is that for a break up????

BTW...look at AHA to find out of you don't overpay. From what I understood from them, people who do not use the public sewer system don't have to pay tax for it.We don't.We have septic and we are not beeing charged ANY sewer taxes.
Maybe its different by county but from what we hears Gwinnett county is the best when it comes to taxes.

I knew this was coming!

No shit Sherlock. Property tax is used to fund the operation of our government and more. See blow...

Here I am paying for schools that I do not use. Paying for streets, 99.999% of which I do not use. Sewer systems - I don't use them. Fire departments - I don't use them.

Waaaaaa Boo friggin hoo... Someone has to pay for school. Every single state in this country operates this way. Saying you don't use the schools so you shouldn't have to pay for them shows me what a clueless person you are. We are paying to educate our youth. These are the same youth that will be running our country and taking care of US when we are old. Are you telling me you have never taken a crap or a piss at a restaurant? Get real. Fire departments.... Are you really this stupid?

I use exceedingly few government services. Most of the 'services' I use are actually hoops imposed by the state that I jump through for the sake of living an otherwise peaceful life. I jump through them at the moment anyway.

Waaaaaa. If you are so unhappy nobody is forcing you to stay here. Leave.

Complain complain complain....... You will have more negative things happen to you. Negative people always do because they deserve it. Now go cry me a river. :)
