More about Cellphones

I was just checking on my Verizon contract to see when I would be eligible to receive a discount on a new phone. You see, I am coveting one of my coworkers' Blackberry 8830.

But I just looked at the price tag: $520.

*sigh*

I hadn't imagined paying that much for my next phone. This makes the iPhone a much more likely option to me. Not only does the iPhone support all the fancy functionality, but it really could take the place of my iPod, whose name is Poppet. I know Poppet will be sad not to come with me everywhere I go, but I will be happy to have my music with me just by virtue of having my phone with me.

I will also be happy to be able to get to the internet and all that other stuff.

I dunno. I love Verizon's coverage here in the city and most of my family is on Verizon as well.

Tough call.

Easy call. I ordered a Verizon 8830 and I was disappointed. It isn't nearly as impressive as I thought it would be. I went straight back to my 8703e.

Hmmm... thanks for the tip. When it comes time for me to make a purchase, I may consult with you on these things.

I am particularly interested to hear about your iPhone experience.

I use a 7130e Berry and love it. No mp3s, but the internet browser is rather spiffy and you can of course get a whole slew of Google apps. It has a QWERTY keyboard, but with multiple letters per key - the SureType recognition works wonderfully, though, and the device is able to be smaller than the typical 'berry because of that design. One USB cable to the laptop and I'm online anywhere with a rather speedy connection and without the need to search for hotspots. (That service is available with most of the newer models.)

Not a paid endorsement. Just a declaration of affection.
