Someone on Yahoo! instant messenger sent me this message today:

HEY ITS DIANNA, FROM THE DIRECTOR OF YAHOO, EVERYBODY SORRY FOR THE INTERRUPTION, BUT YAHOO IS CLOSING THE SYSTEM DOWN BECAUSE TOO MANY BOOTERS ARE TAKING UP ALL THE NAMES, WE ONLY HAVE 57 NAMES LEFT, IF U WOULD LIKE TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT, DONT SEND THIS MESSAGE, IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR ACCCOUNT, SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON YOUR LIST. THIS IS NO JOKE, YOU'LL BE SORRY IF YOU DONT SEND IT. THANKS DIRECTOR OF YAHOO, TIM BUISKI, WHOEVER DOESNT SEND THIS MESSAGE YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DEACTIVATED AND IT WILL COST $10.00 A MONTH TO USE IT. The saddest part of that is you have somebody on your buddy list who would actually send it.

You have good company though. I get a steady stream of such items from one source.

Did you know that the ACLU is suing to have the crosses removed from Arlington Cemetery? Government institution, religious symbols, establishment clause.

Yeah. Sometimes I feel like I'm a moron one step removed.

In my defense, they're a recent acquaintence, someone I don't know well.

They have not yet learned that I don't mind if they're stupid on their own time, but they might get cussed out for wasting mine.

If Yahoo had this kind of problem going on, it would be in the news, and all email-account holders would be notified. I never forward these
kinda msgs.
